Drones and anti-drones in Myanmar’s military conflict

It is reported that on 7 May 2023, at around 16.30 p.m., one of two drones released by the Tatmadaw’s Northwest Military Region, headquartered in Monywa, Sagaing Division, was shot down by coalition forces using anti-drone jamming guns in three townships, namely, Inmabyein, Salinkee and Karni townships. The two drones, believed to be Russian-built attack drones, were shot down and one of them fell into the Chindwin River, with only two of its parts recovered by the Coalition forces after a search.

Earlier, on the afternoon of 19 February 2023, Coalition forces captured an anti-drone jamming gun during an attack on a Tatmadaw police camp stationed between the townships of Salin Kyi and Imabing.
